Construction of a Welcome Shelter
Bailey Construction was delighted to deliver the construction of two beautifully designed welcome shelters at the National Trust’s Calke Abbey Estate in Ticknall. This was a particularly rewarding project, completed within a busy visitor attraction that remained fully operational throughout the works. Careful planning and close coordination ensured that employees and members of the public could continue to access and enjoy the estate safely while construction progressed.
The project also included the installation of high-quality timber cladding to the toilet and changing facilities, together with the construction of attractive freestanding timber-framed walls and a roof canopy, creating a cohesive and welcoming appearance that complements the surrounding historic landscape.
Further works involved the cladding of the catering unit, along with the construction of additional freestanding timber walls and a matching roof canopy. The natural timber finishes and thoughtful detailing blended seamlessly with the estate’s character, enhancing the visitor experience while providing practical, durable facilities.
The finished project is one we are particularly proud of, combining craftsmanship, attention to detail and sensitive construction within a prestigious National Trust setting.
