New Extension, Hydrotherapy Pool & Internal Refurbishment
Bailey Construction is proud to have completed the design and construction of a new sensory and hydrotherapy pool extension at The Grantham Sandon School for CIT Academies — a specialist SEND school in Grantham, Lincolnshire.
The scheme involved the demolition of an existing staff room to create the footprint for the new extension, delivered on a very constrained site within a live, fully occupied specialist school environment. Every stage of the programme required close collaboration with the school, rigorous safeguarding arrangements and careful management of site access to ensure the safety and continuity of the school community throughout.
The new facility provides a purpose-built sensory and hydrotherapy pool suite designed specifically for children with special educational needs and disabilities. The pool is equipped with a specialist ceiling-mounted hoist for safe and dignified pupil access, alongside dedicated changing and changing places facilities.
All specialist MEP installations were delivered as part of the scheme, including a dedicated pool plant and filtration system, pool heating and water treatment, humidity-controlled ventilation and a full electrical installation with specialist lighting. A full internal refurbishment of associated areas was also completed, delivering a high-quality and cohesive finished environment throughout the suite.
Unforeseen drainage issues discovered during the construction process were identified and resolved efficiently, demonstrating the adaptability and problem-solving capability that Bailey Construction brings to complex, live-environment projects. The scheme was completed in July 2023, on time and within budget
